TAFT'S NAKED & FAMOUS DENIM NEP SELVEDGE January 21 2015

Photo cred: Bahzad Trinos

Check out Taft in his Naked & Famous Denim Skinny Guy's. We'd say these are the epitome of perfectly worn in jeans. When he's not working at Service Menswear, Taft plays music and paints, which has helped to add a lot of personality to the fade. Taft is signed to Austin's very own Punctum Records and his brand new album "Groove Redundant" comes out on February 12th.

Naked & Famous has deemed this pair of Nep Selvedge "exceptional" and we certainly agree. We're also really into the way Taft has styled his look, with extra beat up Chuck's and a slightly shrunken oxford.

Service stocks 4 fits of Naked & Famous Denim in over 20 finishes. Head to their brand page in our online shop here or stop into the store to get fitted.

ELEPHANT 4 HAS LANDED... October 20 2014

Naked & Famous Elephant 4 denim has arrived at Service. This cult pair of jeans is cut from 22 oz raw, Japanese selvedge denim and comes in the tapered, Weird Guy fit. Why do we love this pair of jeans? Because they wear in so beautifully over time, it is like creating a one-of-a-kind piece of art. Below, we have posted photos of the Elephant 3 denim, the previous iteration of this jean, after 1 year of wear and many washes. This is the kind of denim people pay upward of $300 dollars for, to achieve the look of perfectly worn in jeans without doing the work. The below pair is what they look like when you do it yourself...custom denim that is unique to your body and lifestyle and looks better than any treated denim you'd find ready-to-wear. Buy a pair and get going on creating your own beautiful fade. You won't regret it and you'll have them forever until you want to do it again (and we bet you will).

OKAYAMA SPIRIT FADE CONTEST December 30 2013

New in store, Naked & Famous Okayama Spirit jeans.

These beautiful Japanese jeans made with a rare, slub yarn are constructed with the raw denim in its unsanforized state (reference our previous blog post here to find out more about sanforization). The denim is so unique and appealing in its raw form, it is left unwashed to preserve the aesthetic and hand feel. What does this mean for our customers? If you do intend to wash or soak these jeans, be aware they will shrink up to 1" in the waist and up to 2" in length. For those tough enough to forgo washing, buy them snug and wear the hell out of 'em to beat them up just right.

Now for the fun part! Enter today to make the cut off for Naked & Famous' Okayama Spirit fade contest. Send a photo to Naked & Famous of your Okayama Spirit denim, wear for 6 months, and resend images of the unique and beautiful fade you've achieved by wearing these bad boys. For more details and who to get in touch with, click here. If you're the type to never wash your jeans, this is definitely the contest for you. We can't wait to see the final outcome of some great denim fading.

Okayama Spirit jeans in WeirdGuy available at Service Menswear.

NAKED & FAMOUS + ONI May 01 2013

The ONI - Naked & Famous collaboration is no longer in production… NOOOOO! This 14.5 oz unsanforized/shrink-to-fit collab combines ONI’s original slub/streaky denim with Naked & Famous’ Weird Guy fit. Since this collaboration is shrink-to-fit you will need to size up a full size.

ONI (meaning “demon” in Japanese) brand denim manufactured in Okayama, Japan, has a huge cult following.  Legend has it that the creator of ONI, Mr. Oishi, is the only person who knows how to work the 80-year-old shuttle loom - this is one of the reasons why each and every inch of ONI’s denim is so special!

We have a small size run left- get them soon before they are gone FOREVER...

BIG JOHN JEANS BY NAKED & FAMOUS February 03 2012

Big John was the first ever Japanese denim brand, founded in 1940. Originally, they were a manufacturer of uniforms, but when competitors started using polyester they couldn’t compete and insisted using natural cotton fabrics. So they looked to the USA to see what garments were made of cotton. They found jeans. Originally purchasing their selvedge denim from Cone in the USA, Big John eventually commissioned a Japanese mill to create denim fabric in Japan for the first time ever. The first ever Japanese denim brand, with the first ever Japanese denim, in collaboration with Naked & Famous - available at Service Menswear.

POMEGRANATE DYED SELVEDGE DENIM BY NAKED & FAMOUS October 30 2011

Pomegranate Selvedge - 14oz left-hand-twill selvedge denim dyed in a blended dyestuff made partially from real pomegranate tannin. These jeans also have an added chemical color stabalizer so the color won’t fade fast in the sun and also in order to have an even surface color. The deep saturated color is so beautiful and will fade very nicely. This style is only available in WeirdGuy fit. Get yours at Service Menswear.

NAKED & FAMOUS DENIM - THE LEFT HAND TWILL September 13 2011

It is said that Left Hand Twill (LHT) denim is softer than RHT. This is due to both the YARN TWIST and FABRIC TWILL DIRECTION...

Most denim uses yarn that is twisted in the Z-twist method. This is a counterclockwise twist, which loosens in the clockwise (right) direction.

RHT denim pulls the fabric to the right. And since the Z-twist yarn loosens clockwise, the warp gets overlapped, thus creating a rough feel. But, LHT denim pulls the fabric to the left, and so the warp lines up in order, which creates a softer hand feel and cleaner appearance.

Available at Service in the following styles:

WEIRD GUY - Low rise, comfort fit up top with tapered leg. Can be worn regular or low on hips.

SLIM GUY - Regular rise, slim fit NAKED & FAMOUS.
